People arrive here from different angles. Some through a specific moment - something that happened, or keeps happening. Some through a growing sense that something underneath isn't quite right.

Whatever brought you here, what the content on this page shares is a common direction: understanding what compulsive patterns actually are, how they form, why they persist, and what changes when they're genuinely understood.

Educational content and resources on compulsive behaviour and addictive patterns - for people who want to understand what's driving the pattern before deciding what to do about it.

That's why the moments below are structured the way they are - each one corresponding to a specific experience of the same underlying pattern. Several honest entry points into the same territory without a fixed journey. You start where something resonates.

THat One QUESTION
PEOPLE have

Is this just a habit or... am I addicted?

It is one of the most common questions people have around the field of compulsive behaviour and addictive patterns. It might not be the most productive question but it is worth looking at honestly nonetheless because of where the question might come from.

Most content on this question gives you a checklist: frequency, quantity, consequences, loss of control. Tick enough boxes and you qualify. Don't tick enough and you are reassured. In both cases, then what?

This piece goes further. A more useful question is why the question keeps returning - and what the pattern is actually doing. That is what this piece explores. Written for people who have already asked themselves the first question - and sense there is more to it than a simple yes/no answer.

Different moments
an underlying pattern

Compulsive patterns don't look the same for everyone. But they tend to surface in recognisable moments - specific experiences where what's running underneath becomes harder to ignore.

Six of those moments are documented here. Each one is an entry point.

Each has a short read and a PDF for when you want to go further.

THE BOOK behind the work

USE YOUR ADDICTION

It began with a different way of seeing addiction: not as a disease to get rid of, but as an intelligent signal pointing to where you have lost contact with yourself.

The book follows a personal experience from the inside, from discovering substances and behaviours that worked, that created access to calm, presence, pleasure and relief, to the point where the strategy that once opened life began to close it down.

At its core, the book asks what addiction may be revealing: where life has become stuck, where energy has nowhere to go, where relationships, work, success, identity and unlived creativity have become part of the pattern.

This is not a motivational recovery story or a manual for quitting.

It is a direct, personal exploration of what happens when you stop fighting the pattern and start following it inward - with attention rather than willpower. When that shift happens, what begins to dissolve is not who you are, but the strategy you once needed to feel alive.
